Prof. Dr. Azra Khanum is affiliated with the Department of Biochemistry, University of Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi, Pakistan as Research Consultant. She did PhD from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan in 1982 and Post-doctorate from National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA in 1987. Her field of specialization is Biochemistry/Molecular biology and she has worked on gene cloning, antimicrobial peptides and DNA-based vaccines. She has received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (2008), HEC Best Teacher Award (2001) and Gold Medal, Pakistan Academy of Sciences (2003). She has numerous research publications in international journals. She was elected as PAS Fellow in 2005.
